Itinerary in Detail

 

Day 01: Arrival at Paro airport, received by our Bhutan representative and drive to Hotel, short briefing about the program, O/N hotel

Day 02: Today is spare for acclimatization. Sightseeing tour around Paro valley including Drugyel Dzong, Ta Dzong which houses the National Museum then traditional wooden bridge, back to Paro, O/N hotel

Day 03: Commence our trekking, the trail is gradual and if the weather is clear the Paro valley can be seen beautiful

Day 04: The trail takes you through thick alpine forests and rhododendron trees. Yaks are grazing and yak herders are playing around the campsites in the winter.

Day 05: Today the trail follows the ridge of the mountain and on a clear day one can get a superb view of the mountains and valleys around. Camp is closed to Lake of Jimilangtso.

Day 06: Now the trail goes through dwarf rhododendron trees and passes by the Lake of Janetsho. One may come across some Yak herders around the camps. Camps are close to Semkotha Lake.

Day 07: The trek begins with a gradual climb and if weather permits one will get a magnificent view of Mt. Gangkhar Punsum, the highest mountain in Bhutan and other Himalayan range from Doupchula Pass. The path gradually descends till Phajoding, where the monastery and retreat/ meditation centers are located.

Day 08: The trail to Thimpu goes down hill through the blue pine forests. It takes some 2-3 hours to reach Thimpu from here, O/N hotel

Day 09: Today take a sightseeing tour to Thimpu, including School of Thanka painting, institute of Traditional Medicine and the Memorial Chorten and handicraft emporium, O/N hotel

Day 10: Morning at leisure, after lunch drive to Paro. On the way visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in the country built in 1627 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, and unifier of Bhutan, evening walking around, O/N hotel

Day 11: Spend a full day hike to Taktshang (tiger’s nest). This magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff way above the surface level. It is really worthwhile to visit this stunning monastery, O/N hotel

Day 12: Breakfast and drive to airport for final departure.
