Trekking in Langtang Region

Langtang trekking is the nearest trekking region from capital Kathmandu in the north central Nepal bordering with Tibetan terrain. Name of the region given after Mt. Langtang Lirung (7227m.) which dominates the skyline in the north. Langtang is a narrow valley also covered by Langtang national park and has number of beautiful mountains including Mt. Langtang Lirung. Langtang National park was established on 1971 as the first Himalayan national park. A large number of people live inside the National park; the majority of residents are Tamang influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.

Langtang trekking offers multitude destination for wonderful trekking options. Major destinations of the journey are Langtang valley, Gosaikunda, Tamang heritage village of Gatlang and Helambu, which can be combined in different ways and length. Every moment you spent in the trekking is really exceptional experience on high altitude walking. The valley, the people, culture, wonderful silver top Mountains, flora- fauna, pristine Lakes, monasteries, Yak herds, the alpine forest and blooming wild flower are great asset of the region. Probably no other places offer so many opportunities in a single visit than Langtang trekking. If you are planning some different aspect from regular trekking this is an ideal trek. Variety of wild flower such as Primula, poppy, iries could be seen during the summer, while Shamans are widely practiced in the villages. This is one of the best option for trekking with various highland experience.

While the region is known as Langtang valley, a popular high altitude mountain Lake ‘Gosaikunda’ is lies just next to the Valley. Gosaikunda is very popular among Hindu pilgrimage, which history associated to the lord Shiva. This sacred lake has very vital status in Hinduism. Gosaikunda is a major trek of Langtang region ending at SundariJal crossing some strange steep trails. The region is easily accessible by road within 7-8 hours of drive.
